Our Mission: To train and equip nationals in ministry across the Middle East and North Africa to effectively share the Gospel, plant local Christian churches, and strengthen and disciple believers within these fledgling church communities.

Arab Baptist Theological Seminary

Arabs are following Jesus Christ in increasing number: an estimated 22,000 in approximately 300 fellowships and churches across the region. Amidst increasing persecution in the Arab world there is emerging a young and growing church—particularly in North Africa—that is desperately in need of leaders. The Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) is uniquely positioned to meet this pressing need.

Across the Arab world, believers are persecuted and forbidden from studying at Christian seminaries. With its long and continuous heritage of religious freedom, however, Lebanon does not have these restrictions. ABTS therefore is the only seminary in the Arab world where believers can come to openly study theology and prepare for Christian ministry. We operate under the premise that nationals can best reach nationals with the Gospel, especially in areas where foreign missionaries are prohibited.

Each year, ABTS welcomes between 20 and 40 men and women from across the Middle East and North Africa to participate in an intensive training and discipleship program to prepare them for ministry. Students come from countries extending from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Sudan, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. After the program is complete, graduates set out to their respective countries to share the Gospel, plant churches, and disciple and develop new future leaders to build an indigenous grass roots effort to make Christ known in the region.

Dar Manhal Al Hayat Publishing

These fledgling church communities, created by our graduates, are in dire need of Christian resources in the Arabic language to grow in their faith and understanding. Established in 1953 as a ministry of LSESD, Dar Manhal Al Hayat (Life Source Publishing) has emerged as the second largest publisher of Christian materials within the Arab world, producing both original Arabic works and translating existing evangelical books and materials into Arabic. From Bibles and theological textbooks to publications for children and women—populations largely ignored by Arab publishers—the ministry is filling a void for much needed resources that are both accessible and affordable to the Arab reader.
